Question as title. I flipped my M4 Pros around because of the stupid power button, but they seem to throttle less if they're horizontal - It's as if the fan doesn't spin up beyond base at certain times if the Mini is vertical.

Current upright/vertical set up behind studio display just to see how it works. It's basically hidden in this arrangement when viewed from front except for some cables. The power button isn't an issue for me as such.

Originally had horizontal next to monitor on the left side. Have noticed no difference in how the fan behaves. Can't comment on you being delusional, but my usage so far has been on the lighter side... ymmv.

I have had my mac mini pro (1tb 24gb) for only a few days - vertical the entire time, with a sturdy stand (Bylitco DM300). The fan hasn't come on loud enough to hear even once. I did the vertical bit to cut down on the mini sucking up dust, and to allow it to dissipate heat easier.

Maybe your mini coming on less noticeably is because it doesn't need to run as strong to cool off.

This makes getting to the On / Off button easier. I used some double back tape to keep it on the block of wood. Also added one of those silicon door bumpers / feet to the button to make it easer to find.
