I was originally thinking of getting 2011 base 15" MBP but have decided to go with the higher end 15".

I have two options:

1) Go online - no education discount as I am not a student
15" 2.2 MBP
500gb 7200rpm
Anti-glare
$2399 before taxes CDN

2) Apple Store - education discount has been offered from Apple Store Rep
15" 2.3 MBP
750 5400rpm
Anti-glare
$2409 before taxes CDN

Anti-glare is a must for me and this is the only configuration (2.3 high-end 15") of the anti-glare available at an apple store. And it is the only way I can receive an education discount.

Option 2 is what I am most likely going for. Am I making the right decision between the two? It seems like a no brainer. $10 more for a slightly better cpu. I prefer the 7200rpm but have no choice but to stick with the 5400rpm HD.

Maybe in the future, I'll just swap the hd for something better.

You can just pick a school online... Or order by phone. I don't condone lying, but they really don't actually check.

You could always order it from MacMall.com and get the 15" 2.2 GHz anti-glare w/ 500GB 7200rpm HDD for $2,344 with no sales tax.

I thought they did it randomly. I wouldn't want to take a risk and having to pay up later. At the apple store, it was offered to me and it seemed like a safer route to go with.
