On my iphone I am logged into joe@aol.com for imessage.

When i try to log on on my ipad, it says I am already logged in elsewhere and wont let me log into the same account for imessage.

Isnt the point that I can talk on one device and switch right to the next?

Can you have the same phone number on two different devices? Nope. Similarly, you can't be logged into the same Yahoo/MSN account in two different locations.

But I do see where you're coming from. It'd be nice indeed.

Yah but I thought that was the whole point...

I can be talking on my iphone... and just go on my ipad and finish the convo..

no?

though your point seems valid, i think many people will complain that their imessages app on ipad keeps on vibrating or something.. say someone else in your household is using the ipad while youre messaging away on your phone?

I mean. Maybe if you were on one device it would trigger the cloud to only go to that account until you make a message from the other. Then it would switch.

Who the hell would want a whole other apple id. Just to text on Imessage. And who wants to give their friends two addresses

Wait, I thought one of the big selling points of iMessage is that I can seamlessly continue conversations on my iPad that I started on my iPhone?

im not saying to have two apple IDs. the only work around i can think of is the one you just mentioned... imessage with iphone, then later with ipad, im assuming itd have to download all the previous messages. im sure apple will come up with a way to implement this.
