I have the original iphone (1st generation). I got it 2 christmas' ago; so December of 2007. Am i qualified to get the 3G S at a lower price?

you should qualify. i also purchased one in december of 2007. you can do one of the following to find out:
1. call att to speak with them
2. go to apple.com and click "buy" on the 3gs in the apple store. enter your info and they will perform a qualifications check.
