ok i recently bought a camcorder that uses usb 2.0 and am trying to get it work with imovie....do i need firewire instead? cuz i dunno if it has a port on my cam :/

There are very few camcorders that don't have Firewire...USB is generally used just for transferring still photos from them. What make/model is it?

you're not SOL if you return it and get one with FW support.

Stick with MiniDV Camcorders with Firewire (i.link) ports for doing computer editing.

You're probably going to have to take the files from the camera, and then import them into iMovie separately - you're likely to loose quite a bit of quality as well, IF you can import the files in the first place. Would you be able to exchange for a Firewire camera?
