Am I SOL?

Hi, I just recently bought an AT&T 3GS(running iOS4, 5.13.04, new bootrom)...I know that there's no jailbreak/unlock yet for these 3GS', but was wondering if I would run into problems jailbreaking and unlocking(because I'm in Canada) ?

Right now it's in DFU mode because I had to check its bootrom...before I put it into DFU, it did mention something about inserting a sim. Since I don't live in the US and don't have access to AT&T post paid sims...am I SOL once a jailbreak/unlock comes out?

Your sol now but when a new tool is out you could possibly jb and unlock your 3GS on 4.0
Not sure if the new userland jb would need your iPhone to be activated first.
You can find an old inactive Att sim to do that you know or buy one online.

I guess I'll wait for the new unlock/jailbreak to see if I need it activated first.

Welcome. I used an old inactive sim today to activate and unlock a friends iPhone 3G since my iPhone 4's microsim wouldn't fit.
