In the iPhone X video that started with Johny Ive talking about the design? It definitely looked like there were dropped frames/stutters with swiping to unlock and going through the multitasking sections. Hopefully this isn't the case.

Yep, I noticed them too, especially when closing apps and going back to home screen

Christ, and to think that everyone always brings up the lag and stutters of android from 3 years ago, when now even the Galaxy Note 8 with the more optimized Touchwiz 8.5 will be smoother than the most advanced and expensive iPhone.

new iOS = new bugs

it'll never be perfect

Yes, but as Apple has been known for the smoothness (at least back in the day), it's still pretty bad that your PROMOTIONAL VIDEO in the KEYNOTE would show frame drops. Basically, not very good when there's obvious software glitches in the video that's supposed to put the phone in the best light possible.

I do always wonder if they are using a final production device for demos, let alone a final and polished version of software. Logic would tell us they should, but you never know, especially when the device is brand new with new tech.

Logic also tells us at the very least, they can iron out the kinks in the very few situations that they actually show in a short video.

OP.. Apple was known for smoothness. They were known for a lot of things that are no longer the case. iOS stutters now, that's how it is when you design software to work across 30 devices instead of just one.

I certainly wouldn't judge it off of that. My iPhone 7 Plus runs smooth as silk. The X is much more powerful. The final version of OS 11 should not have any trouble on it.

I know, I see many stutters in my iPhone 7+, but at least we still have those certain people that tell us that iOS is perfectly smooth and Android is still a lag fest.

I guarantee you that your iPhone 7+ stutters. Go to the cellular pane in the settings and just swipe down while at the top of the page, you'll see it stutter like crazy.

I know what you're thinking, "but who cares about the cellular pane?", that's just the easiest and most reproducible place to see the issue. You can see random frame drops in the music app, messages, and weather apps.

It's a software optimization problem, nothing to do with hardware, I guarantee you the a10 is more than powerful enough not to stutter while scrolling the cellular pane.
