I took my 12” MacBook to the store today because I noticed some of the keys are starting to feel like mush so I wanted to see if it qualified for the keyboard replacement program and it did. I also have a 2017 13” mbp w touchbar at home so wanted to compare it with the 2018 mbp. It sounded maybe a little bit quieter but in terms of feel it felt almost exactly the same (which to me is a good thing. I love my mbp 2017 keyboard.). Does anyone else feel this way? My 12” MacBook is the keyboard I’ve had issues with. The 2017 MBP has been great.

Well they did say that they only made it quieter, they didn't change anything but that. Is there something else you were expecting?

I’ve heard people say it has a much better feel but it felt exactly the same to me.

I imagine "feel" would be very subjective to the unit you have, your personal expectations to key travel and maybe even environmental conditions. Maybe that is why Apple chose not to quantify this change.

It could be the softer sound affecting feel as well, I notice a difference between a 2016 MBP and 2018 MBP, sounds and the keys feel softer. But I haven't used a 2017 so I can't speak to that.

I never had a problem with the 2017 keyboard.

The 2018 is a little quieter and feels better. Hugely? No. Noticeably? Yes.

What remains to be seen is how it holds up as particles collect around the keys.
