Hi,
During the last 10 years, I've only had iPhones: the original iPhone, then 4, 6, 7, then XR (yikes, too big!), now on 11 Pro and thinking of getting the 12 mini.
And as the title says, I've never had a case. I despise the idea of using a case/cover for pretty much anything, let alone my phone, which I use all day and is also a piece of design.
The result? Did I ever break any of them? Well... yes! The only one that ever broke was the screen on my 7, dropped it really hard once on the pavement. I went to a local phone service and they changed it in 20 minutes, for the equivalent of about 70 USD.
I don't even want to think how much it would have cost me to get cases for all my phones throughout the years, let alone the "cost" of carrying all that bulk and ugliness with me for 10 years.
I also resold all my iPhones pretty decently, didn't have anyone trying to negotiate too much for them not being in pristine condition.
So that being said, why are cases such a thing? I see people here claiming how design doesn't matter because everybody uses a case all the time and I just don't get it. Why ruin it with a case?
