Nearly two weeks after Amazon reached an agreement with Apple to sell more of its products, a selection of Apple products are available on Amazon in the United States, including the latest iPad Pro, Apple Watch Series 4, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro, Mac Pro, and Mac mini models.

Other products available include accessories such as Apple Watch bands, the Apple Pencil, Beats headphones, and the Magic Mouse 2.

Prices are fairly consistent with Apple.com, but there are some discounts to be had, including $100 off a base model MacBook and $300 off the latest 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 2.6GHz six-core Core i7, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD. Note that some of the products are currently out of stock or available in limited quantities.

Amazon has yet to begin selling any new iPhones directly from Apple or its network of Apple Authorized Resellers, but the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are expected to be available soon as part of the deal. One product that won't be available is the HomePod since it is an Amazon Echo competitor.

Apple has prominent marketing banners on each of its Amazon listings that resemble the look of its product pages on Apple.com. Apple-authorized product listings contain the wording "ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

A limited selection of new and used Apple products were already available on Amazon via third-party resellers, but those product listings will be removed after January 4, 2019 under the new deal. Third-party resellers will need to apply to become Apple Authorized Resellers to continue selling on Amazon.

Beyond the United States, Apple products are also beginning to appear on Amazon in France, and the sales agreement will extend to its storefront in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, and India as well.

Ordered a new iPad Pro yesterday from Amazon when they started to officially post the Apple products. It had a guaranteed delivery date of today, but it hasn't even been shipped yet. I guess they still have some kinks to work out.

This happens to me a lot. It's not uncommon for a shipment to depart in the early afternoon and arrive at our house before the day is out. It all depends on how far you are from their fulfillment center. You could still get it today.

Just another sign of how dwindling sales require closing down production lines, and opening up more points of sale to get rid of as much accumulated stock as possible through the biggest sales and discounts channel, Amazon. Alibaba is next.

I don’t really see the big deal. Amazon sells google products as well. Same as Microsoft.

You may still get it today, in many areas Amazon is handling it's own deliveries and will ship and deliver the same day. but if it isn't delivered today, contact Amazon using Contact Us and let them know, they will do something like give you credit, extend prime by a month, etc.

Do yourself a favor and get their Amazon Prime Rewards VISA Card. If you have prime you get 5% cash back on things you buy on Amazon.com (3% for non-prime customers). On Apple stuff that adds up quick! You also get 2% back on restaraunts, gas and drug stores and 1% on everything else. We get back our Prime subscription cost several times over each year. I used some of the savings a few months ago to get an Xbox One X and some games. I love it!

Amazon is the Walmart of the internet. Doesn't seem like the best place for Apple to be targeting as a retail channel. Apple has its own e-commerce website and no doubt gets millions of hits daily. Plus, all those beautiful (and expensive) stores they built all over the place? Seems like Amazon will cannibalize at least some of those sales. Third party sellers already sell some Apple products on Amazon, so I don't see the advantage of formally launching with Amazon. Plus, Amazon will take some margins from Apple. This is also a company that competes with Apple in other areas.

The partnership with Best Buy makes a lot of sense, but this really does not.

It makes sense if apple has fully utilized its distribution channel and it would cost more to move into AMZs network than to simply partner, and apple doesn’t see a long term benefit to developing new distribution channels.

They’ve completely occupied the largest central e-commerce channel for low cost apple products (refurbished). Now apple can better capture the value of the resale market through limited high volume partners, crowd out resellers they do not extract value from, while controlling quality for that market in hardware QC and extended software support timelines , and hopefully stabilizing install base during the device transition.

They’ve been planning for iPhone slowdowns for years. Amazon partnerships are a component of that plan.

And? It’s money isn’t it?

It is. Which is why they finally decided to stop fighting and allow Amazon Prime Video on the Apple TV and in turn, Apple products to be sold on Amazon. It's been going on for years and why it's a big deal. But it started with eBooks. And then apps. And then selling items in-app and Apple's cut of those sales and then Apple TV/Fire TV and then selling items on Amazon. It's a whole chain but it's ok if you don't care about any of that. But you asked why it was a big deal and that's why.
