No, not if you actually want to use it. It's obsolete. Even the latest Core 2 Duo Black MacBook4,1 is a problem, since it only officially supports up to 10.7.5 Lion. In fact, I just retired a White 2008 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook4,1 because of this reason.
A much better (and IMO better looking) option is the 2008 Core 2 Duo Unibody aluminum MacBook5,1, which goes for not much more. (Actually, I got mine for less than US$150, but it had a lot of scratches, etc. and it was from Kijiji.) It officially supports up to 10.11 El Capitan, and can run 10.13 High Sierra as well with no issue.
The other one around that era I might recommend is the late 2009 MacBook6,1, which actually officially supports 10.13 High Sierra. However, that one is a bit more generic looking as it is neither black nor aluminum.
