amazon.com is now selling the macbook pro 15 2.53 for $1,610.99 (almost the same price with the Apple education discount except no tax! $100 off apple.com). wonder if this is a sign that new models are about to be released?

no the other mbp's are around the same price as the apple store. this one was only recently discounted by almost $100.

Most Macs are cheaper on Amazon than Apple, for instance the Mac Mini is $577 on Amazon. Most likely the Macbooks, Macbook Pros, and iMacs are anywhere between $50-$100 cheaper.
