I almost can’t beleive I am saying this but are people using the Amazon Echo with their Apple products?

I’m thinking of getting one for my daughters room for her to

Control the TV (is this possible and can it work with Apple TV/Sky Q/Fire TV)
Turn Light On/Off
Set Alarm

The TV is the most important as she struggles with this at the moment and don’t want to replace a perfectly fine TV

Also any reason to have them in any other rooms?

Current users what cool things are you using them for?

It can do all of that, but you will need a Harmony Smart remote control like this for the TV and ATV. The Echo has a Harmony "skill" you enable to send commands to the Harmony hub, then that sends out the IR signal to your devices.

For lighting, I use a Phillips Hue hub and lights with the Echo. For just one room with a couple lights, you can skip the hub and get lights like the LifeX that work without a hub.

The alarm... just tell the Echo what you want like "Alexa set an alarm for six AM"

The Echo can also access your iCloud calendar, so I use it to read off my upcoming appointments.
