Apple's newest model of AirPods, the AirPods 4, launch this Friday, but if you want to save some money and are okay with investing in an older model, the AirPods 2 are just $89.00 today on Amazon. This is a $40 discount and a solid second-best price on the AirPods 2.

Amazon also has the AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) for $189.99, down from $249.00. This has been one of the more consistent AirPods deals that we've tracked in 2024, and it's an overall second-best price on the AirPods Pro 2.




There are a few advanced features that you'll be missing out on if you buy a pair of AirPods 2 in 2024. This includes personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, the force sensor, USB-C charging, as well as improvements to audio and microphone technology. Apple is going to have the same problem they had when selling AirPods 3 at first, they were competing against AirPods Pro (1) at nearly the same price. Here you have AirPods 4 ANC at just $10 less than AirPods Pro 2 which continue to get amazing new features. Other than the small minority of folks who insist on no rubber eartips (sorry, if you are one of that group I'm happy for you but you are a niche) I can't imagine why anyone would buy AirPods 4 ANC at this point.

I'd never buy the gen 1, too many bugs with the microphone and crap ANC.

True. However, anyone buying Airpods 3 (or now the 4) at full price direct at Apple are just literally throwing money away, honestly. In a few months history will repeat itself and I expect the Airpods 4 with NC at will be on sale (Best Buy, Amazon, etc.) at around $150, with the Pro 2 on sale between $180-$190. No matter what I expect there to be a $30-$50 price gap between the 4 with ANC and the Pro.

IMO, the only Airpods worth buying at full retail are the now basic $129 ones. The rest I expect to have decent discounts almost all of the time.

My wife doesn't like the ear tips. She prefers the 2's and 3's over the pros. She also wanted a way to make sure our kids don't take her airpods, so I bought the full price Airpods 4 ANC with engraving. Be here on Friday.
 
I’m thinking about getting the Airpods 2. They were the perfect fit for my ears. I have my Pro 2 which are okay but lately they’ve been hurting my ears after a while.

I gotta think this through quick before they sold out.

It’s nice that the non pro AirPods have been updated but with the consistency that Amazon has the pros on sale, just buy the pros. Even tho they’re “older” they’re still a better value when on sale. Unless you don’t like earbuds with tips of course.
 
AirPods 2 at $89 are a phenomenal deal. Even though I've upgraded to AirPods Pro 2 for travel, I still use the standard AirPods around the house for music and phone calls. Definitely worth the money.

Are there any insights when Apple is going to release AirPods Pro 3?

I've dropped my AirPods Pro 1 too many times into a sink and now the microphone is pretty wonky. I just don't want to purchase the 2nd gen and have the 3rd gen released right after the return window closes.

The smallest silicon caps fit pretty good and don’t fall out. Not too wild about sealed ears, can’t hear surroundings. Rather have new AirPods 4. Battery life is good. Got two days on one charge. Interface is awkward, keep struggling to find play pause button. Using them while riding bikes, regular AirPods may fall out while riding and can’t stop on road to recover them, flex have a loop around the back of the neck. Microphone doesn’t seem very good, other party says it’s broken up audio probably from background noise.
