Hi, I want to buy something from a small company and hesitate to use my Visa card. I noticed that Amazon is listed as one of the payment methods. Has anybody tried such method to buy things from companies other than Amazon? How does it work?

I'm not sure what an "Amazon" payment method is. I have an Amazon Prime credit card, but it's a Visa card, not a separate payment method category. Are you referring to a third party seller that is selling on Amazon or a separate website altogether? Link to the website in that case, perhaps?

In any case, as long as the website is secure and you are indeed using a credit card (not a debit card), I don't think you have much to worry about. Just keep an eye on your statement often like everyone should be doing anyway, and if you notice any unrecognized pending charge, your credit card company can easily take care of it for you and send you a new card.

In the case you are referring to, the company will accept 'payment' from Amazon, which is from your usual form of payment to Amazon. I believe. Think of Amazon as being Paypal in your specific instance. I use Comixology ( which is owned by Amazon ), I pay thru Amazon though, not to Comixology directly. I get two emails. One from Comixology that they received my payment and I have new books, and a second email from Amazon stating I paid Comixology XXXX amount thru them.

Basically your transaction is secure because it's with Amazon who 'pays' the seller, and you pay Amazon itself who gets the money 'back' from the usual way you pay them.

Yes, I have used this on several occasions. For example, when Wikipedia asks for a contribution from time to time, I use Amazon to make that payment. It's just as @JayMysterio explains.

It's __way__ better than using their own transaction system (unless they're using a large e-commerce system, though, then they'd probably offer PP or AP ...)

Thanks all. I saw Amazon listed under Accepted Payments at the bottom of their page. Has anybody used their products?
