Because no one is buying them as there is no reason to. I'm looking at my beautiful SS Series 8, then looking at the Series 10, and finding nothing worth upgrading for. Heck if you own a Series 6 or later there's no reason to upgrade. If anything, it would be a downgrade as you are losing Blood Ox tracking.

For those who have the oxygen sensor and care, then that’s true. It would be a downgrade. However, for those who don’t care, it could be an upgrade. I went from an SE 2 last summer to an S9 in order to get AOD even though I didn’t get blood oxygen. This week, I went to a series 10 for faster charging, internal speakers, and the ticking second hand. The second hand is a fairly big deal for me and is helpful in healthcare contexts.

100% agreed! I have the SS Series 7 (with a proper leather strap before they replaced them) and with a face matching the strap, I think it looks surprisingly beautiful. For my use case I have no need whatsoever to replace it. However, the battery is now sub 80% so I will probably buy the next gen. I'll be in Hong Kong in October (zero tax). Were it not for that I would seriously think about replacing the battery and keeping it two or three more years.

Yeah I have a SB Ti S7 and battery is at 80% now, which doesn’t make it through the day if I exercise. Other than that it’s still pretty great.

It’s really probably because they’re at the end of the product cycle and the new ones are coming soon. This is how Apple and many other companies clear out the end of the stock ahead of an update.

You went from a gimped SE to a full Watch. You could have had the exact same experience, minus the tiny speaker that I swear to god you’d better not be listening to music in public with, had you gone with a series 6 or above.
Also: ticking second hands aren’t a series 10 exclusive, so not even sure where you’re going with that.

I had a Series 5 and upgraded at launch of the S10… I regret not having waited for the S11.

While true, these have been going on sale for $100 off for the last several months; I put one in my Amazon cart back in February or so for the same price as this sale. Was going to replace my 6 since I couldn't get a day out of it with a GPS-recorded workout, but decided to go a different direction altogether.

Same here

I have a series 8 myself and it's still working quite well, but once its max capacity reaches 80% or below, new watch time for me

You missed the part where I went to a Series 9 in between. And yes, the ticking second hand while in AOD mode is a Series 10+ feature only. Otherwise I would’ve kept my S9.

As for the speaker, I don’t listen to music in public with it. That would be obnoxious and impractical given its low volume in comparison to a phone. I connect to my AirPods generally. It’s just nice to not need my AirPods when I just have my watch and want to listen to a podcast or music. I use the S10’s internal speakers for when I’m alone and don’t want to wear AirPods.

Yes, the experience is largely the same compared to the Series 9. Heck, I was pretty happy with the SE2 and wouldn't call it gimped. It's just the Series 10’s small improvements over my current Series 9 do make a difference to me though in ways that justify the upgrade price for me in particular. If it doesn’t for you, that’s fine. I just like the differences it does present, from those mentioned to things like the metal extending to the back instead of being a separate glass section.
