Amazon is discounting Apple's 13-inch M2 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD storage down to $799.00 in every color. This is a $200 discount on the M2 MacBook Air, and Amazon is currently guaranteeing delivery before Christmas for the computer.

Amazon has Midnight, Space Gray, Silver, and Starlight on sale at this price. Although this is a previous generation device, it'll work great for anyone who doesn't need the performance gains introduced with the M3 chip, especially at this discounted price.

There are a few deals on the M3 MacBook Air, but many of them have a delivery estimate for after Christmas. If you don't mind waiting, you can get the 13-inch M3 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD storage for $899.00 on Amazon, down from $1,099.00.

Fwiw, at Best Buy the M2 with 16GB is only $50 more ($799). The M3 with 16 is $100 more ($899).

Holy smokes - now with 16GB RAM these are fantastic deals. I'm personally holding out for M4 but that's because I am hopeful they will run 2x external displays + the internal display.

I looked at those same deals at Best Buy over the weekend and I knew I couldn't get by with 256, not to mention Best Buy doesn't carry nano models. I ended up buying a M4 from Apple with in-store pickup, although I had to wait almost 90 mins for them to bring the Mac from the back store area to the public area of the store.

Good prices. But with M4 Air expected to be released in early 2025, might find better deals after that. Might be better to wait and see. But overall the M3 MacBook Air at this price is a good buy.

I doubt it, because it's not about the chip. It's about giving people a reason to buy the Pro.

ugh- I can see your point but I really hope you're wrong about that. The M4 chip is clearly capable of doing it because the 14" M4 MacBook Pro can. Disabling it on the Air would be a scummy move.

In the past this differentiation was because of the limitations of the chip not some marketing driven BS.

I didn't know that! I assumed they had crippled them. Presumably the M1, M2 and M3 MBPs Can also run two external displays?

M1 and M2 can only support 1 external display - due to the hardware limitations of the display coprocessor on the M1 chip.

M3 could only support one external display at launch, but Apple engineered a solution and later updated it to support two external displays when the laptop is in clamshell mode and the internal display is off.

I like to use 2x external displays PLUS my laptop screen with my current setup (an M1 Pro MacBook Pro from 2021). I had a base spec 13" M2 Air and then a 15" M2 Air - both of which were amazing computers for just casual computing. As time went on, I realized they were both powerful enough for most of what I do on my M1 Pro, but the main thing that stopped me was that I enjoy keeping my laptop open alongside my 2x external displays as a email/calendar screen. The M2 couldn't do that and neither can the M3. The M4 MacBook Pro can, so I hope the M4 MacBook Air will as well. Time will tell..

I see, thank you. Fingers crossed then!
