This thing is getting really darned old at this point

I see people having a hard time getting $80 for fairly new preowned ones

Great price to get into AW, but I couldn't go back to models without Always-On-Display. It's too annoying to have to do the exaggerated wrist gesture to make sure it wakes up. That's product line segmentation for ya.

Same. I think the SE would be fine for occasional use, but if you're actually using it all the time, I'd recommend the Series 10.

I bought the SE last year because I'd never had an AW and just wanted to dip my toe in. I imagined I only wanted it for running and tracking sleep, but it turned out I did want to wear it day to day. The limitations of the SE started to really get to me. Besides the display awkwardness you mention, which is very irritating, the SE is also just much slower and less responsive than the 10.

I use a fitbit, while it does have an Always on display, I don't use it, twisting my wrist to get it to display is not normally a problem. The problem with always on displays is that the watch needs recharging more.

I don't like that thing on the side that looks like a large winder. At that price then it is more to the price of some other smartwatches.
