So i was bored and was trying to figure out a way to watch a few of my Unbox episodes on my iPad. After 30 seconds of not wanting to scan the spam on google I decided to try out skyfire. It worked, though the quality is a bit poor. I know iTunes is right there, but this works with what you may already have. And the point isn't to debate the reason not to do it. Especially if the media you already have was free.

It all starts with the popout mini-player.

Another good alternative is PlayOn (playon.tv). This will only work if you are home and have a PC, but it works really well. It also gives you access to Hulu without the Hulu monthly fee, as well as several other video sites.
