EDIT: Solved. As it turned out, not all of my HDMI ports are equal 2.2 HDMI ports (god know why). Change the HDMI cable from port 2 to port 3 (labeled "MHL") and now everything is working.

-------------------

Hi everybody,

I have a strange problem with the Amazon Video app on my Apple TV 4K: Normal 1080p content works fine. However, when I try to play 4K movies/series, I get the error message:

"This video can't be played. It looks like your HDMI cable or connection doesn't support HDCP, which is required to play this type of video. Try reconnecting the HDMI cable from Apple TV to your TV, and play this video again."

I can at least hear the audio in the background though.

I never had any HDCP problems with other content on my Apple TV (including 4K rentals). My HDMI cable should be at least 2.0 standard as I specifically checked this when I bought it together with my 4K TV. Already tried a second HDMI cable, but from the exact manufacturer. Would have to order another one from a different brand for another test.

I already unplugged my Apple TV and TV from power and plugged both devices in again. No luck.

Any hints what the problem may be? Can it really be that my HDMI cable has HDCP problems with the Amazon Video app, but not with HDCP content from the iTunes Store?

One last info: I am using a VPN server from Germany to be able to watch Amazon Prime content from the US (I pay for a second Amazon Prime subscription directly from Amazon.com). I really hope that this isn't co-related and I can't imagine how – or can the problem lie here? All my other US services work fine.

If anybody has an idea, I would be glad to know. Thanks in advance!
