caution:
Amazon's proprietary delivery service dosnt seem to deliver to a USPS PO Box. They drop off the package off at the post office w/o telling anyone.

last year we moved from a rural area to a more urban home in Gotham City. Neighbors have had packages stolen from their front porch a lot. The local GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) is stymied what to do.

The post office will accept parcel deliveries from fedEX and UPS parcels delivered to the PO Box with success. The Post Office puts a notice in my PO Box and safely holds the package for pick up. Dosnt seem to work with Amazon tho.

internet retailers seem compelled to mark their boxes in big letters "AMAZON - STEAL ME"

I don't know if it is rolling out nationwide, but my PO Box is great for this. They give me a physical address that I can have items delivered to, they sign for them, and as soon as a package arrives I get a text/email notice I have a package.

When I first signed up for my PO Box, I wasn't told about this, it was when I went in a few weeks later, they told me about it. So I don't know if it is new or not, or if it is being rolled out to every post office or not.

Another option, might be to get a PO Box from the UPS Store if you have one nearby.

By Gotham City, I assume you mean NYC. In which case, Amazon should have Amazon Lockers located throughout the city. They have over a dozen Amazon lockers around Houston and they package can be delivered there for pick up. I haven't had any encounters with package thieves yet, so I've yet to use the locker service.

yes I have this for my PO Box and use for fedEX and UPS but seems the proprietary Amazon Delivery dosnt work with a PO Box. The Amazon Delivery person just left the box in the public area of the post office. A week later the cleaning crew found my parcel.

No, i do not live in NYC but its an urban neighborhood that is now getting the feel like Gotham City, lots of petty crime happening here. 4example while driving into work today noticed a neighbor's suv up on blocks with all 4 tires stolen.

whatever.

I wonder if that was an issue with the delivery guy at your location. I have not had a single issue and I order a lot and they are all hand delivered to the person behind the counter for me.

Maybe you should speak to the workers to see if there is something they can do to ensure your items are delivered to them and not just dropped off?

the workers are severely self limited. the post office itself has long lines.

the Amazon delivery person likely was a contractor who did not have the time to wait inline? FedEX and UPS pull up to the post office loading dock to deliver early in the morning.

Ok then... nevermind.
