Last night while in a huge group at Disneyland, an amber alert came through. Most everyone seemed to get it around the same time. A few phones were a little later but I never received it. I checked that I am supposed to receive amber alerts in the settings. Is there anything else I should do?

Amber Alert is totally carrier dependent. Much like 911, it will work even if you don't have an active carrier account. Just need it turned on in settings and a SIM card.

Interesting. What was even more strange but perhaps makes sense is that my son got the alert but his phone isn't activated and wasn't on wifi. I was trying to figure that you. His phone used to be on my carrier though. But still interesting.

I actually turn my amber alert off as it went off three times in the middle of the night about a year ago for a location hundreds of miles from me. Not going to see the persons car of tag number from my bedroom anyway.

Not strange at all. The phone does not need to be activated to make 911 calls--or receive Amber Alerts.
