So, if you've used any of the betas (beta 6 and under) and were observant, you may have noticed an option in display settings, below "Automatically adjust brightness" to have OS X automatically adjust "Ambient light compensation." I believe this option was removed post beta 6, but the functionality is still there; it is now controlled by the "Automatically adjust brightness" option, as one can clearly see the display go from being washed-out to having an appropriate level of color/saturation after playing with this option. For further proof, check the Console while toggling the option and you'll see a message related to ambient light. Just a heads up for those who think the display looks unusually bright in certain environments. Hopefully this changes upon final release because, currently, the automatic brightness control seems to affect the ambient light compensation (contrast adjustment) more than anything.
