I have used iCarez, PaperLike (the real one), Moko, and who knows how many other matte screen protectors over the years. My PaperLike protector on my iPP 11 was showing some wear (pencil marks that wouldn’t wipe away). Rather than using the second one I had on hand, I searched Amazon for matte glass screen protectors and found Ambison. I like it so much that I ordered ones for my Mini 6.

I’ve just started using them so I don’t know how they will hold up, but I expect that they won’t show pencil marks nearly as much as the PET ones do. They don’t have the “sparkly” look on white areas of the screen that matte PET protectors do to one degree or another. The overall effect on the screen is smooth. It’s hard to describe the difference. I’ve never used an iPad screen without a protector so I can’t compare to a bare screen other than there’s no glare and no fingerprints.

If you’re looking for matte screen protectors and want to try glass, I think the Ambison protector is worth considering. (I’m not affiliated in any way with the company, didn’t know it existed until I started looking for screen protectors a few days ago.)
