AMC+, which includes content from AMC, BBC America, IFC, and SundanceTV, is available through the Channels feature in the Apple TV app as of today, according to AdWeek.

AMC+ provides access to ad-free programming from AMC channels and other streaming services like Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited, AMC library shows, and early access to AMC series before they air on TV. It also includes on-demand content and live feeds of AMC, BBC America, IFC, and Sundance, though live content will include ads.

Prior to today, AMC+ was limited to Comcast, Dish, and SlingTV subscribers, but there was no standalone option that did not involve a cable subscription. Subscribing to AMC+ through Apple TV Channels will cost $8.99 per month, with a 7-day free trial available to test it out. The service is also available through Amazon Prime Video.

Those who subscribe to AMC+ can get early access to the new "The Walking Dead" spinoff called "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," along with anthology series "Soulmates."

Apple introduced the Channels feature in a revamped Apple TV app that came out in early 2019, providing a way for Apple TV users to subscribe to standalone services right in the TV app. There are several Channels available such as CBS All Access, Showtime, Epix, Starz, Cinemax, and more.

{exasperated sigh}
Another week, another new streaming service. I can't wait for the inevitable consolidation when the also-rans fail and the more successful ones acquire the remains. Then I won't need 526,297,183,415 streaming services to watch the 8 or 9 good shows that are out at any one time.

The only saving grace is with all the free promotions surrounding streaming services I haven't had to pay for a single one of the new offerings. Not sure about every one else, but the majority won't see life on my TV's beyond the promo period.

Dang. I first thought this was a bundle for tv/movies through streaming combined with the all access AMC movie theater pass for watching movies in the theaters. Combined with a potential discount for bundling it through ATV+ was gonna be a good deal.

Guess my expectations were a little high. This is just yet another streaming service.

Just an FYI, if you subscribe directly through AMC on their website and use their AppleTV app, it's only $4.99/month instead of $8.99.
I don't think you can subscribe directly through AMC.

The pricing is all over the map, but if you want standalone without obligation to subscribe to other services, $8.99/month appears to be the lowest price.
  • Apple TV Channels: $8.99/month
  • Amazon Prime Video Channels: $8.99/month
  • Dish: $6.99/month, requires Dish's Flex Pack, Latino Dos, Latino Max, America's Top 120 or above
  • Sling: $7/month, requires Sling Orange or Sling Blue
  • Xfinity: $4.99/month, requires Xfinity Limited Basic TV or above
While $8.99/month is a bit on the high side, I am glad I can finally watch AMC series, using superior Apple TV app (in comparison to AMC's app, it's great), without having to subscribe to other services, as it airs, and without ads.

My only complaint is that new contents will be shown as "live" with ads, such as upcoming season 6 of Better Call Saul and many of the catalog contents are missing action due to licensing with other providers (e.g., Breaking Bad and Halt and Catch Fire on Netflix).

That's assuming you have a TV provider with AMC. For those of us that cut the cord this is not an option which is why I think they have the $8.99 version

Why on earth is it $4.99 or $8.99 and commercials? Might be interesting for me if they wrap it in a package or with the existing ATV+/CBS/Showtime.

This is a big deal for cord cutters. AMC is not found on Hulu Live TV for example. Those of us wanting to watch shows like Better Call Saul, The Walking Dead, and others were forced to wait for complete seasons to be available on Netflix the following year.

for the love of god stop all the extra streaming services.
I know, right? How dare people have a choice to subscribe or not!

Aren’t commercials during the live broadcast? Seems like that make total sense.

The AMC app has the absolute worst intro, it's loud & annoying and ... I don't know how anyone decided it was a good idea.
I sent them feedback about that a while back, including a video recording of exactly what I was talking about. They seemed to think it had something to do with my setup and have (so far) completely ignored it as a non-issue.
I was seriously concerned it was going to damage my speakers the first time it happened. It's considerably louder than anything else in their own app or on the rest of the AppleTV apps, and for that matter louder than any source on my stereo.
I've now conditioned myself to mute the volume until it's done, but that's not a "solution".

This doesn't have Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul (tied to Netflix still). Those are the best two AMC shows. What a bummer. I would love to get rid of Netflix and finish BCS on AMC+. I prefer the channel experience and hate shelling out $15 to Netflix.
