So the question is does anyone know the screen size of AMC Theater's normal screens? Is there a web site that compiles a list of movie theaters and their screen sizes?

I was looking to go see Star Trek at an IMAX theater. But I found out when searching that not all IMAX theaters are equal. There are the IMAX Digital "Fake" and the actual 70mm IMAX Theaters.

Anyways the one near me is a fake IMAX. What I was trying to ascertain is, what is the difference in screen size between the fake IMAX and the theaters normal screens?

This is at an AMC Theater in Kennesaw, GA. I called but they would not give me an answer. So I am trying to figure out if their standard screens are those puny 15 foot tall screens versus the 28 foot tall fake IMAX or if it is more along the lines of 25 foot versus 28 foot. If the former I would pay the difference if the latter I would be quite upset.

My main concern is getting a puny 15 foot tall screen as this happened with Star Trek: Nemesis, completely ruining the film. I just spent the whole movie fuming about the screen size.

By the way. I have not been to a theater several years now. Because I don't want to risk spending money on a small screen theater. The worst offenders being theaters that just have two screen sizes but don't let you know. So depending on the show time and film you can end up with a small or large screen.

Thanks I already found that before. What I am trying to find is the difference in size between a standard AMC Theater screen and the "fake" IMAX screen. To see if the 50% price increase is justified.

LOL really? That is mildly amusing.

Well if it was two different movie theaters I would not be so perturbed by this question. My concern is that the theater has both regular movie screens and the small size IMAX at the same place. So spending $12 versus $8 does seem to be an issue if there is little to no difference in screen size.

Anyways I said to heck with it. I have never been to a real IMAX and reasoned a 28 foot tall (nearly three stories tall) screen would be superb at any rate. Since this is the last IMAX Star Trek day I went to see the film and was not disappointed. I will be seeing the movie again sometime in the next couple of weeks on their regular screen and will find out the size difference then.
