I’ve been streaming video from our 2 Amcrest wireless cameras using VLC to both display and encode the video stream to a file.
VLC can encode the video from the older Amcrest model IP2M-841 directly into .mp4.
But, while VLC easily encodes the full video from the newer model IP3M-941 into several formats (e.g. .ts, .avi), the resulting .mp4 file is audio only
So I’ve been capturing the video from the IP3M-941 as a .ts file and then using HandBrake to transcode the .ts file into a .mp4 file. These files are quite large (10’s of GB / day) and take awhile to transcode even at 100 fps.
Is there a better way?
