Not sure how i feel about the AMD (Ati) graphics card instead of a NVidia one.

I like CUDA and it's GPU implementations that are widespreading more and more.

I'm sure there's a reason why Apple went with AMD instead? Is there nothing comparable out from NVidia for the mobile?

Nvidia has the mobile GTX 5 series that are comparable. Personally I prefer Nvidia, but I suspect they weren't ready in time for this round.

Maybe apple went with AMD instead because now we can have 1gb of graphics power at the same power consumption instead of a Nvidia 512mb graphics card?

The VRAM doesn't consume much power, it's the GPU itself.
