Well apperantly the rumor is that, that is exactly what AMD is going to be getting rid of, the ATI brand, even though I do agree with you, the Ati brand name is very widely known.

And AMD's not well known?? Nobody seemed to care too much when nVidia swallowed 3dfx. I'm sure if AMD killed off the ATI name it wouldn't damage their sales. Anyone that buys dedicated graphics cards would realise that the AMD graphics card their buying is ATI tech otherwise they probably wouldn't be buying a dedicated graphics card in the first place!

Well, I'm just wondering what 3dfx was doing when nVidia swallowed it up that was so great?

At the very least, AMD will probably do some naming scheme that has both AMD and ATI in it. I wonder what this will do for all the AMD boards with nVidia chipsets, though.

Don't think it would happen. Too much brand strength in the ATI name.

I find it hard to believe that AMD would kill off the ATI name brand. But then again, who would of thought that Macs would run on Intel processors. :)

The "Radeon" Brand is more identifiable than the "ATI" - "AMD Radeon 1900XT", anyone?

Still, I don't see a huge reason to kill the ATI name.

I agree, ATI Radeon X 1900XT sounds better than AMD Radeon X 1900XT. :)

The name needs to die.

"ATI" stands for "Array Technologies Inc."

The company's full name is currently "ATI Technologies Inc.", which expands to "Array Technologies Inc. Technologies Inc."

That is pure evil. It must go.
