How do I make the American Flag appear next to the sound and Airport menus on the top on my screen?

I has to do with your language settings.
What OS are you using?
If it's OSX then you in the Preferences Panal, select 'International', select the 'Keyboard Menu' tab, and you'll probably find that 'U.S' is the only one ticked off, if you tick of another country, 'British' for example then the flag will appear as away of selecting languages.
