Alll...do yourselves a favor and buy your Mac's on your AMEX. Yes, I know that AMEX protection only covers the laptop for 90 days but on my 87th day my Air was water damaged (not sure how).

As the unit dryed out, things started to work better but it wont hold a charge. Apple wants $750 to fix it. I have the local Mac specialist store looking at it as well.

However, AMEX will cover the cost of replacement. I just want to get this out there as I saw someone else recommend AMEX on a forum a while ago.

*Only* 90 days? I guess AMEX has since put some extra fine prints in there.

wait a minute, only 90 days. i thought they offer to extend manufacture warranty of up to five years. like apple offer one year warranty for their gadget, then amex warranty kicks in after the one year period. like if you have a problem with your electronics purchase you would try to resolve it though the manufacture first and then if it doesn't work out then amex will reimburse you for the product. assuming you still kept the original receipt and amex billing statement of when you purchase the stuff.

i got my macbook pro, mac mini, and iphone 4s this way.

is this not true anymore?

I have to ask - how did your machine get water damaged without you knowing how?

Not really sure. I think a client of mine may have spilled something last week. The guys at Apple told me that it doesn't take much water to fry an Air.

I thought I was home free this week. As the hours went by more and more functionality started working. However, the charger light kept flickering

I didn't realize there was accidental damage protection. I purchased it on the amex so I wouldn't have to buy the apple care.
