I was hoping someone could help point me in the right direction. I have a IP camera (LTS) that streams audio using AMR audio. Since upgrading to Lion I have learned that Apple has pulled support for AMR and in doing so I have lost all audio from the camera. Unfortunately LTS cameras are OEM so there aren't any firmware updates that I can use to update the camera like the more consumer friendly Y-Cam models on which it is based.

You can read about Y-Cam's solution to Apple's removal of AMR here: http://www.y-cam.com/blog/mac-osx-lion-compatible-firmware-2577

But, does anyone know of a way to simply add back support for AMR Audio? Possibly a codec that can be installed in the Quicktime Library?

Thanks!

I just wanted to update this for the archives.

Quicktime (and Safari) in Lion no longer supports the AMR narrow band (samr) codec but VLC does.

VLC was the first thing I tried, but in order for me to get audio to work I updated VLC to 1.1.11 and used the RTSP mpeg4 stream instead of the HTTP stream. Now all is well.

Hope that helps someone out there.
