I'm giving myself a Mac Makeover. I am in the process of figuring out whether I want to go with a Macbook Pro or G5 for the best video editing quality/storage, but editing will never happen if I don't have the perfect and most compatible camcorder, which is where you guys come in...

-I want to stay under $1,000 (preferably under $800, but I know that's hard to come across these days), because I'm not looking for a top-of-the-art camcorder, but I do want great quality to work with.

-I will probably be buying the latest Final Cut Pro sometime in the future, so I need something that will be compatible with that, or at least compatible with the latest version of iMovie.

-I'm not looking for something that captures still photographs (I have my digital camera for that), because I want as much space and memory for video taping.

-Good battery life.

-A microphone jack in case the sound quality isn't up to par.

-Mini-DV or digital (HD or not) doesn't matter, just as long as it's easy to transfer onto the computer, and is good quality.

I was originally looking into the Sony DCR-HC96 MiniDV and Panasonic PV-GS300 3.1MP 3CCD MiniDV, but then someone recommended a Canon HV-10, and now I'm overwhelmed and confused.

 HELP???
