for the iphone 4? i checked out lockdown but it says it doesn't work for 4.0+

any suggestions highly appreciated :)

There are a few apps that can protect your photos; not sure about text messaging. But the better choice is to come clean with your girlfriend/boyfriend.

I like iDiscrete [sic - yes, they used the spelling of the wrong word]

Can lock up text files, but don't think it handles text messages or memos on the fly.

I've been using Lockdown Pro on iPhone 4 with no problems so far. I downloaded the SBSettings toggle so I can turn it on and off easily.

However I would still like to turn off 'SMS Preview' with an SBSetting or wish Lockdown Pro had the ability to do that. I know I can just go into Settings, but I would like to have a single button that enables the kind of 'privacy' that I want. E.g. when another person wants to checkout my phone.

Using LockDown Pro, if you lock the photos, you can still access them through your camera roll by using the camera...

That would still leave the actual apple sms app open though. Great idea though.

No it locks both the native and it's own app

Actually no.
The latest 5.0 I have installed asks you for the passwork on both BiteSms and stock Messages app.

Bite has done it for awhile. Started using it after iprotect broke because of an update and never went back.

Doc Vault

I use myself an app called Doc Vault and find it pretty handy.
It allows to protect any type of file while the iPhone can still be used as usual.
I creates a separate are that can only be accessed with a separate pass key. Included is a little browser that allows to hide the history and a tool to create pdf from text.
Check it out here:
