Where Judas lost it's boots.
So after a little search I've found what files need to be modified in order to set the resume off when shutting down or rebooting your mac.
They are located here:
/System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/

And they are LogOut.nib, Restart.nib and ShutDown.nib.

I've tried poking around with an hex editor and I've found the check box thing but I don't know what to change. Any ideas?

I'm still running it from an external hd so I'm not afraid to experiment with it.
