Good Afternoon Everybody!
just a question about e-mail accounts.....i was wondering if there is an e-mail account that works with mail.app as well as with the iPhones mail app and preferably aMsn or Adium....o and also free:D

any suggestions guys? i currently have a hotmail account at the minute just so you know

What do you mean? All my my existing email accounts work with my iPhone's mail client. Well, my Exchange account at work doesn't work, but you know what I mean. When I activated my iPhone, iTunes automatically setup all of my accounts which were active in Mail. These include AOL, Gmail, .mac, and my cable provider account.

The takeaway message is that you can expect all of your POP3 and IMAP accounts to work with your iPhone.
 
so say i get a yahoo or a gmail email address how do i know if its pop or imap and how do i set it up with mail? (like how do i find out the 'incoming mail server) sorry im abit of a n00b when it comes to this....

right.....ive got a google mail account and it aint workin i cant send an email it comes up with this message 'the sender xxx@googlemail.com was rejected by the server' ive followed the instuctions on google and aint sure why it aint working! Does it show ive never payed any attention to Mail for the last 4 years ive owned a mac?:eek:

well it does work with Mail. i just googled "gmail with mail" or something like that, and i was able to find instructions and get it working
 
iy'd deffinately @googlemail its what it says at the top of the screen when i login.....i tryed changing the incoming server that didnt work either:S

would it be easier if i tryed yahoo instead?

I am not too sure about Yahoo. I have Aol set up and it works great for me
 
he had problem with google mail, not gmail i use gmail and it works fine.

and yahoo probably works like hotmail, you can't use it with mail unless you have a paid account.
