I doubt Apple would do it. But what if they made a dock built into the ACD 23" (or 24" if they make it) and the 30" ACD. You could vertically dock your Macbook Pro and then use it as a normal computer. It would be the same power as an iMac. And when you want to use it as a notebook, just remove it from the dock. Which also charges it.
 
I can't really picture this... can you make a sketch of what you are trying to say? Apple will never have a built in dock in their displays, because the majority of people with a ACD use them with a Mac Mini or Mac Pro rather than a notebook. Maybe there will be an expansion kit that you can attach to the ACD, but I think people are happy enough with connecting their notbook to a screen via a cable.
