Have loads of Hi8 tapes to convert to DV and picked up Formac Studio device. Used Vidi to convert but disappointed with final quality, particularly bleeding of colours. When viewing tapes directly quality is pretty good. Is there just an inherent reduction of quality when converting or a trick or two I'm missing?

When I converted mine I just stuck my new Camera in front of the TV with the lights in the room turned off! Probably not the answer you are looking for though...
