So were doing a video in my class in FCP and we did it in anamorphic (SD). When we export it to QTP, its not anamorphic, its still standard 4x3. We want to burn it using iDVD. What do you think could be wrong?
(sorry for the lack of details, that's all i know  )

QT player, for whatever reason, doesn't recognize the anamorphic flag, but iDVD should. The burned DVD can be anamorphic and the DVD player should letterbox it for display on a 4:3 TV or stretch the image out for a 16:9 TV.

Hi,

If you burn the DVD with the anamorphic video file, when you play it on a 16:9 tv it will be stretched to the TV. The images on the DVD are anamorphic within a 4:3 frame, this is correct.

iDVD will display the 16:9 image, as will the TV you show it on.

However, if you play the anamorphic image on a 4x3 tv (old!) you will get 4x3, not letterboxed. Depending on the client, I always do a letterbox version incase they want to show it on a 4x3 tv.

I squash the whole clip, creating a letterboxed version, then burn that as a seperate chapter.

Hope that helps?

Andy.
