Anbody tried DVD+R in new Powerbook?

I thought I read in the specs for the new Powerbooks (I have a 15" 1.5 w/ SD) that they now write to DVD+R at 8x as well as DVD-R. Well, I tried loading a blank +R in yesterday, and it would just spin for a minute and then spit it back out at me. My drive is the Matsu**censored by rcs filter**a UJ-835e. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if mine is faulty. CDs and DVD-R works just fine, so I'm wondering if they don't support +R still. Oh, it was a Sony 8x disc I was trying to use. One more thing......the same disc loaded and was read as a blank DVD in both an iBook and an iMac G5, which both had the Mats UJ-825 drive. Can anybody else try this and let me know something? The Apple tech support guy said that they don't support DVD+R at 8x, but their website clearly states that they do.

I've created DVD movies on DVD +RW and they play on my G4 iBook.
