Hah! I can beat that. Today I saw a six year old with an iPhone.

It was my daughter with mine. She wanted to take photos at the zoo, but the battery in our digital camera ran out.

Oops ... should I be letting my six year old use a digital camera?

Why does it matter and are you sure it wasn't his mom's or dad's?

Oh no.
It was merely in an effort to point out how the times have changed.

Usually a 9yr old would have no need for a cellphone.

Just a casual observation, no need to attack me.

And yes, it was theirs.

A piece of plastic with an iPhone. My dock!

Not attacking, you are right why does a 9 year old even need a cell phone. He/she only learned the numbers a couple years ago and now is dialing on his/her own iPhone!?!?!

See that was more my point rather than chastising a small child for having something of that value.

I really should be a little more in-depth when I start threads.
:)

I see no reason why anyone able to use a phone shouldn't have a cell phone...but for a young child...you'd expect a very simple phone...possibly one of those ones that only allows them to call their parents. But an iPhone? :0 Only if the kid's dad is rich like Bill Gates!...oh wait...bad example. :p

Well if they can afford it, then why not. I hate kids, but meh, I would be more afraid someone would jack it from him.

Hmmm... sounds like that kid needs an upgrade to an octocore mac pro with two 30" ACDs.

Gawd, he lives in a gated community in Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, California, and they have the highest gun ownership rate in probably California, if not the US. He's a whiz on his iMac. He gets shuttled everywhere by his parents and his neighbors, so the chances of his iPhone getting taken from him seem pretty slim...

The day the 3G went on sale, there was a family ahead of me all buying phones. I know this because the Mother asked the two young sons and one daughter what color they wanted. They were probably aged 13-12-10. I'm sure to them it was an iPod first then an iPhone second. They were kids all excited about a great new electronic toy. I hope they are still enjoying them.

When I was their age, my big thing was an old used 8-track tape deck that I was so excited to buy from a lady at a Hardware store just so I could play my mom's 8-track tape copy of Jesus Christ Superstar.

.

I beg to differ, though I think its crazy (and I'm kinda jealous) that a 9year old has an iPhone, normal cell phones are useful sometimes.

For example my sister has one and is 10 now. She has one when she was 9. (not iPhone)

THis is because its easy to stay in contact with her in a busy city like tokyo is.

What's the big deal? My nephew of 7 years, has a 3G iPhone that compliments his 24" iMac...:p

Jeezuz! Thats not fair! ARe you joking cause my message below is saying your not.

I edit video on a freakin mac mini G4, and some 7yearold is playing club penguin on a 14"iMac.

What does a 7year old need with an internetphone. Don't they just need the calling part?

My nephew enjoys games on his iMac, as well as on his iPhone. The iPhone is primarily for the phoning part, but he also enjoys texting and sending photos via email to his Grandparents and his Uncles/Aunties on a regular basis, (he gets a bunch of help from his parents and his Grandparents...:)

Still, maybe the phones are different there, he can do that with any phone. Why such a nice one? And the biggest iMac. I'm so freakin jealous...of a 7 year old!
