Android communication app issues

I have got myself an android phone running 7.0

When I use the android communication app it keeps telling cannot copy file xxxxxx
Followed by your is lock or disconnected.

The phone is not locked as it is set to never clock if charging or connected to USB.

It is quite annoying.

It is too much hassle to remove SD card from phone and use card reader.

Is this common?

After more testing it seems to be an issue with the 128GB SD card and apple.

works fine under windows.

in my imac keeps dropping out in phone and in usb card reader.
but works ok in my windows 7 netbook.

so just using phones internal memory at minute and all good.
