MoveToiOS has been a 5 star fail.

After verifying the code and selecting data types to move, it never establishes a connection and gets past the "Estimating time to transfer stage"

I tried on work and home wifi.
I tried bouncing in and out of airplane mode and restarting the phones.
I have rest the iPhone 3 times trying to get this done.
Nothing has worked

Its been futile and unacceptable.

So I think I need to try a 3rd party app , which I think leaves me with iTransferGo.
From what I have seen, you run the app, get your messages, install their message app, then can access them.
I assume you can then change message apps as needed.

There are some interesting and derogatory posts on Reddit, about the company TensorShare, jailbreaking and making apps to monetize people that don't understand that existing freeware will work for them.

Thoughts?

Trying again, same issue, it doesn't get past "Estimating time to transfer".

The other frustrating issue is the iPhone immediately starts charging from the Note8.
If this process doesn't need to transfer via USB, then why can't I remove the cable.
If it can transfer using USB instead of WiFi, why can't I select it and not have to @$@!#$ around with WiFi.

Edit. OK, now seeing connect with Wifi option instead of need to use the cable...
I'll have to try at home, given the reduced devices on the network.

That might be it.
This is a Note8.
Android version 9.
You tried it with the latest version right? The one live on Google play store has a requirement of android 6 or higher.

Hardwiring it is perfect with a usb c cable. Just make sure to use the one provided with the iPhone it’s better in syncing speeds

Weird. How’d that happen?! Is the iPhone smaller than the note 8?

Correct me if I’m wrong but you can check the settings on your android to disable the iPhone from draining power from your Samsung!

If do get the messages, contacts and call history moved over, can I use an iCloud backup restore for apps and other things? Or is it all or nothing?
❌ the app must be downloaded and installed on the android device to facilitate the transfer.

All equivalent (free, non paid only) apps from google play store installed on the android phone can be migrated to the iPhone provided they are also available on the App Store.

OK issue resolved.

It boiled down to .... patience.

Previously, I was expecting the app to calculate the time remaining in a short period of time. Given what happens when I try to move 50K files on windows and the time that takes (to calculate transfer time), I was being way^n too impatient. It wasn't stuck, it was still thinking and the activity bar graphic was still moving. I just figured it wasn't working (before).

I hooked them both up to Wi-Fi, selected messages and call history, left the house on errands, came back 2 hours or so later and it was done.

You know what I do when I set up my iPhone with direct transfer? While keeping an eye on it to make sure it’s all working properly with both iPhones side by side, I read a book or use my Mac while the process is going.

I may have to do this again.

I don't see the old messages in the message app.

I don't know if this means I should install another message app on the iPhone. I can live with that. 99% of the time its only to reference something.

I am wondering if it was data I transferred. I selected only messages and call history, not contacts. I figured I would be adding the contacts as a Google account in the contacts app, post MoveToiOS execution.

However, maybe it didn't know how to setup the old messages without the contact info.
