I have synced my new iPhone 5s text messages with my iPad and Mac mini. When my friends with iPhones send me a message, I get the message on my iPhone, iPad and Mac. However, if a friend with a Samsung Galaxy sends me a text message, it only goes to the iPhone and never gets propagated to the iPad or Mac. Any suggestions to what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks.

Ray

iMessages will show up on all the devices but text messages will only show up on your phone.

Interesting. I never thought to look. I'm guessing you don't see the text on your other iOS devices because the text is being sent to a phone number. I checked my devices and I see the same. The iPhone can only receive SMS messages.

I did some web searching and found this link from Apple community site. If you want to receive SMS messages your friends would use something like this?? not sure if that helps.

Good luck. Other option is logging onto your carrier and view them there.

Thanks for the info. I will check out your links. Since my iPhone friends also send messages to my cell number I didn't think messages from Android phones would be treated differently. I figured text messages handshaking would be handled between the Mac and iPad.
