Please correct me if I'm not asking this in the correct forum.

Recently, I bought a new Android smartphone (HTC Wildfire), mostly to tether the internet to my Macbook, so I can get online whenever I want. I live in Belgium and, well, the cheapest iPhone was twice as expensive. And since I only wanted basic funtions (phone, sms) and tethering, the iPhone had nothing more to offer for the money it costed. (Still, I got an iPod Touch and I'm very happy with that, so I'm not bashing Apple that much! ^^ ;) )

Using EasyTether Lite (couldn't find the more popular PdaNet on the Android Market), I'm now able to tether my internet to my MacBook and use it wherever I want. I tether via USB.

Now, I've taken a step further. I wanted to send the signal the smartphone (let's call it a crapphone from now on, it's still an Apple forum) via my Mac to my iPod Touch, so I could browse the App Store and Cydia, which is not accessible from my Mac like the App Store is, wherever there is no WiFi.

I wanted to do that just by sharing my USB tethering input from my crapphone to Airport (WEP-encrypted for safety issues), and pick up the signal with my iPod Touch.

Now the question that burns in my veins, waiting for an answer from the mighty and wise MacRumours members.

I can find the signal, and make a connection to it, but I can't seem to get internet on my iPod Touch. Did I do something wrong, or is there something I forgot?

Some quick facts, maybe relating, maybe not:
Country: Belgium
Crapphone price: 260 euros*
Cheapest iPhone price: 575 euros, simlockfree
Mobile Provider: Mobile Vikings (MVNO of BASE Belgium)
Wireless Technology: EDGE
iPod Touch generation: 2nd generation, 8 GB

* it costs less, but it'll quickly show you why it costs so little in comparison. Simple games lag as hell (PapiJump, about 10 fps on crapphone, 30-40 fps on iPod Touch 2Gen), menu items are placed weird, less intelligent look and feel, in short, not quite what I expected for a quite new phone. Other than that, I'm happy with it. Yes, it got a GPS receiver, and a FM radio player, and some unique technologies from HTC Sense that even Apple fans can be jealous on, but that's not something I'm going to say on a Apple-based forum, right? ^^ :)
