Nintendo's latest iOS game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has been downloaded at least 15 million times since it first became available for download last week, according to new download estimates shared by Sensor Tower (via TechCrunch).

At an estimated 15 million downloads within six days, Sensor Tower says Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is Nintendo's second most successful launch in terms of raw installation numbers. It didn't garner as many downloads as Super Mario Run, but it did beat out Fire Emblem Heroes.

Comparatively, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw fewer downloads than Supercell's Clash Royale during its first six days of release, and while it was downloaded more times than Pokémon Go at launch, Pokémon Go was initially limited to Australia, New Zealand, and the US, while Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has been available worldwide since last Tuesday.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is ranked number 10 on the iPhone top grossing chart in Japan, but in the United States, it's ranked at number 72.

It's worth noting that Sensor Tower's data can be somewhat inaccurate. Following the release of Super Mario Run, Sensor Tower suggested it had been downloaded 25 million times in four days, but that number turned out to be incorrect.

Nintendo said Super Mario Run had actually been downloaded 40 million times over the course of four days, so it's possible these Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp estimates are also under the actual number of downloads. Nintendo hasn't yet shared data on the game's success, but we'll update this post if new information becomes available.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp allows players to manage and decorate a campground inhabited by animal campers. There are a range of furniture and clothing items to collect, as well as activities like fishing, catching bugs, and gathering fruit. Leveling up is done through crafting items and luring new animals to the campsite.

As shared by iMore, it appears Nintendo is already working to add new content to the game. Evidence sourced from data-mining an upcoming update suggests new characters, furniture items, and clothing will be added, and Nintendo also appears to be planning to introduce a special holiday event in December.

At level 17 and getting a little redundant. Is there anything beyond the gathering and give and building?

Level 25 as F2P, and don’t think so. Animal Crossing has always been a game where you’re intended to just check in every few days. The core game loop is pretty light (esp. in Pocket Camp with no museum, etc.) at the moment, and I think it’ll be some time before new features expand the activities available.

——

At least with Fire Emblem Heroes there’s challenging Infernal GHBs, Tempest Trials and competing in Arena and Arena Assault, which is even more rewarding as F2P (Tier 20 mainstay despite). There’s “more to do” for those that like the core gameplay and working towards building powerful and counter team comps.

What does this blog post have to do with rumors about Macs or Apple?
Its an iPhone app and they always features things like that here. Besides this site has been covering iOS more than Mac related articles. Maybe it’s time to change name to iOSRumors?

This game is far too slow with constant breaks required to talk to other characters. Plus you need a constant internet connection to play.

Nintendo have lost their magic.

"Pocket Camp" only looks good on the graph because they didn't include the stats for "Pocket Pool".

I decided to try it, and I agree that the game play is slow. The inability to speed up conversations during to the constant loading screens, and the fact that conversations end whenever you complete a task makes the game feel like it's full of lag.

I'm at level 8 now and I am starting to appreciate the charm now. Nothing about the game involves rushing towards a goal. The fun comes from casually completing tasks and not unlocking loot. It's a calming game that makes a great break from the real world.

My issue is more about the general message. If I want to be friends with someone I need to get them gifts. If I want them to come to my place I better make sure it's decorated to their liking with high enough quality items. You don't like my sporty theme? You want expensive hand made modern furniture? Stay alone on some island. In a crappy tent. Jerk.

BLESSED IMAGE. <3 KK Slider is one of the main reasons I started playing Animal Crossing in the first place. xD

As someone attempting to get into the franchise, can you explain this? Where did you see KK Slider prior to playing Animal Crossing? I have yet to aquire his chair, so I don't really know what he does, but I also don't recognize him from another franchise.

KK Slider was created for Animal Crossing. In the original games, he would play one of his songs once a week and that was when the game credits would play.

Just pretend that the characters are all really dealing drugs. I find this to be a highly entertaining take on all of the "sketchy transactions with brown paper bags and sacks" that are occurring.

Glad to see it doing well, this is my favorite Animal Crossing game after New Leaf. I always knew the format would be perfect for mobile due to all the waiting required anyway. Missing some customization and character depth/silliness, but this has me excited for big changes in the Switch version
