Animated .gifs in published iPhoto Gallery?

I have a bunch of pictures I wanted to put up on my Mobile Me site to share with friends. A few are animated .gif. I know these won't work in Preview, but shouldn't they carry into a gallery and display correctly through a browser? I've published my gallery and all I see are still images.

Any ideas?
