Just got one of these for my new 13" pro touch MacBook, plugged it in seemed to work, came back an hour later and battery had drained by a huge amount even though it was powered via the hub. Disconnected the hub and plugged power direct to the port, would not recognise power input, tried another port and it recognised the power but continued to drain battery.

Ran an SMC reset and all seems to be working again, anyone has a problem like this. Also anyone recommend a hub that actually works, loads out there but all seems to have comments about over heating or killing wifi etc!
[doublepost=1516656484][/doublepost]So I see why the battery was draining, the iPhoto face analysis only runs when there is a connected power source, the Mac was showing the power connected but not was not charging, so cpu was hammering away at the phtotanalysisd because it thought it was being charged.

Looks like that anker hub is junk and is confusing the MacBook in some way.

The Hyperdrive USB-C hub works great on my 13" tbMBP. It's really more of an adapter than a USB-C hub but fits my needs well. I have three devices plugged into the hub: two Asus 22" 1080p monitors (one via HDMI, one via TB3-HDMI cable) and a Plantronics wireless headset (via one of the USB-A ports). Power is plugged in on the right side of the laptop. This leaves me one USB-A port and one USB-C port for other peripherals when needed.

Not sure if it will fit your needs, but I have been very happy with it. https://www.hypershop.com/collectio...hub-for-usb-c-macbook-pro-13-and-15-2016-2017

It looks like they are about to release a new model that has dual 4k @ 60 Hz and USB 3.1 for just $20 more! https://www.hypershop.com/collectio...ro-8-in-2-hub-for-usb-c-macbook-pro-2016-2017

Question: anyone use these with covered/encased MBP? Mine is encased in protective cover with USB-C ports exposed but it looks as if the Hyperdrive would not be able to flush mount?

I don't have any kind of cover on mine yet (been eyeing a full Colorware skin kit though). It doesn't take but a few millimeters or so for the hub/adapter to disconnect, so I would imagine anything more than a paper thin wrap on the side would not allow the hub to make a proper connection.

bc,
If I decide to go I will cut 5.2'' from the bottom side of the case. Doesn't seem to present an issue as the case at that point is extremely thin (owing to the thiness of the new MBPs. Length of adapter is 130 mm. Thanks for the reply.
