Hello everyone:

I thought I'd share the latest announcement I set to all my friends and family about the acquisition of the MacBook Pro that now serves as the backbone of my medical and diagnostic systems. If I can find a way I'll attach a picture of the Mac.

WXLM-MEDICAL1.jpg

Greetings! Today is a very big day! I would like to introduce you to the next-generation medical and diagnostics management hub. I would like to introduce WXLM-MEDICAL1. This is the next generation upgrade that enables better and more consistent medical and diagnostics management. New features include but in no way are limited to: enhanced stability, better network performance, better connectivity with existing diagnostic apps and hardware, better battery life, and a robust system to ensure that the right people have the right information at the right time. This new backbone integrates with existing diagnostics and management systems including Diagnostic Sensor (OBDv3), AgentLocator®️, EnvironmentManager®️ 3.0 or newer, Fall Detection v3, along with integration with the existing body-worn camera system and the upcoming BWC 2. Another great thing is that management does not have to relearn their existing tools or workflows because the new diagnostic and management hub uses the same management interfaces and tools that the management, operations, and support teams have grown to love such as AngelSense®️ LIVE on the web, or AngelSense®️ 360 on their mobile devices. Thus, there’s no need to waste time retraining some of the most important people that help keep me safe.

Note: I didn't mention that the existing YIKES! computer is still in my possession and has just been repurposed as a web computer and that's it as to say all the mission-critical systems have or are currently being moved to the mac.
What do you think of the broadcast message and what do you think of my family's response which was mostly positive to the upgraded system. It's better than the YIKES! Computer this thing is replacing and for that I am happy.

I'm not normally one to brag or boast about the new acquisitions but because this is such a significant upgrade to the existing diagnostics and medical hub; I just had to share it. If there's enough demand for it, I'll post a picture of the YIKES! computer this one is replacing. Hope I put a smile on someone's face with this!

That is amazing.

Thanks for the humor!

But seriously, I... work for a company that makes diagnostic devices that need to be connected to computers (or laptops) as well. Our system is traditionally Windows-based and... let's just say, the one thing that we keep getting complaints for is performance.

My manager and I know that we can get most of our code base migrated to cross-platform independence and it'll actually perform better on either Linux or Mac OS, but... due to the fact that we are entrenched in Windows licensing contract hell, with many (think like... 99%) of our documentations already revolving around Windows, with most of our customer service staff trained to deal with Windows, as well as the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" policy, we haven't really gotten around to doing that yet.

As a result, customers have complained about performance for years. We keep getting the same complaints year after year. It's so constant, and it's gotten to a point where I'm finally allowed to take actions to "investigate" whether a performance improvement will not cause a lot of regression testing.

...but we know the software just freaking "works" on a Mac and it works at a rate that's like... almost 10x faster than the Windows counterpart, just on the merit of the same code base being somehow more efficient on Mac OS than it is on Windows.

If the YIKES! computer in your possession is Windows-based, then... yeah, I understand what it is. My condolences. We still have to put up with sub-par Windows computers that can barely handle themselves with Windows 7, but are being forced on to Windows 10 because 7 has already entered EOL status. You can bet that my manager will be very "happy" when he's handed that next customer complaint sheet. We kinda already know what's going to be on it. Well, that is... if I somehow can't figure out a performance improvement.

Thanks for the understanding on our frustration with windows. I don't normally get into the specifics of how it all works but here's a brief overview of how the diagnostic and management system works:
1. The Diagnostic Sensor (Apple Watch Series 3) talks to the AgentLocator (iPhone 6 Plus) which talks to the laptop running in the backpack. The laptop gathers all the information and sends it in a nice little package to the dashboard where it is presented in nifty graphs and alert boxes to the support teams.
2. The AgentLocator (iPhone 6 Plus) runs the EnvironmentManager 3.5 suite of tools that links with my noise cancelling headphones.
3. The AgentLocator device is constantly sending out my GPS location to the dashboard so they know where I am at all times. Think of this like an ankle monitor but instead of the police monitoring it, it's monitored by a team of highly-trained professionals 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

All of this is designed to be optimized for Bluetooth communication and all the I/O is handled over a 4G connection (either a dedicated hotspot device or a cellphone running personal hotspot)

From the web dashboard (AngelSense 360) or the Mobile management app (AngelSense LIVE) they can do things like remotely trigger a LIVE feed on my cameras, communicate with me via instant messaging, get notified when I arrive and leave certain areas, and see diagnostic information such as heart rate, temperature, fall detection, and so much more. I don't know necessarily what your systems are designed to monitor; however, I think monitoring a human's life and safety is one of the most critical things on the planet and should not be trusted to windows 10 or any version of windows newer than 7. In my humble opinion, XP was the best for running my diagnostics and management software but the old computer running 7 died a few years back so I had to get a computer running windows 10 and boy has that been a nightmare ever since which is why we call the old computer the YIKES! Computer.

From the dashboard, if I even so much as cross the street without first "checking out" they get notified on the web, on the text messaging, and on their wrists via watch notifications. All devices are designed to be on 24 hours a day and if they're not reachable from the dashboard this is perceived as an emergency because I *never* turn off my devices in any way without a notification back to management team thus if it's not reachable and they were not notified they can safely assume I'm in some sort of danger or being forced to turn off my hardware or give it to someone. They even know the status of the devices because they can query the battery life on any of it and they usually send me a message to plug in after the second low battery warning on the iPhone.

hope it all makes sense. I'm just trying to get all my thoughts out on paper in a somewhat coherent manner to help a person from the outside who wasn't involved with my health management initiative in 2014 after a very serious health event or wasn't there for the diagnosis of me being severely autistic in 2019 to better understand it.

The nice thing about the MacBook when it's not just sitting there running the diagnostics in the backpack, I can use it as an everyday computer like I am now. I'm on the web and on IM with my ex for the fun of it because I'm bored. Me and her are at least still on speaking terms.

Sorry for the rant but again I hope this all helps or at least put a smile on someone's face.

Here's the YIKES! Computer:

So for those who are curious about what the YIKES! computer is, the above is the computer on the log in screen.
