Annoying Preview Habit

Does anyone else find that when they open an image in preview everything is nicely sharp for about 2 seconds, then it suddenly becomes blurred. It's a relatively subtle blur, but very noticable and it can ruin the look of an image. It doesn't save the blur (thank God) and it doesn't happen in any other app, so what the hell's going on?

I think what happens is that Preview displays the image exactly as it appears at first, then applies anti-aliasing to the image so it looks better on screen. This only happens when the image being displayed is scaled instead of at actual size. To my eyes, it makes things looks better, but I can see how it might bug some people. Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to turn it off.

I think it still does it to me even at 1:1 scale, which is annoying. Anyone know any apps that can open and scroll through as many pictures as quickly as Preview does?
